We began the week, by learning Harvest themed songs during Music with Ms Keough, working on tone and pitch to ensure our performance was constantly improving.
This week in Maths, we began with a dominoes challenge from Milo the Maths Magician. We learnt how to add 2 or more dominoes together, recording our learning using pictures and number sentences. We also became detectives, searching for and creating dominoes with the same amount e.g. 0 +6 = 3 + 3. We then solved problems involving adding and subtracting using the dominoes.
During Literacy this week, we began to read our new focus text ‘Traction Man is Here’ by Mini Grey, we thoroughly enjoying learning about Traction Man and his imaginative adventures around the house. We began to share what we enjoyed about the story and have decided to turn our Role Play Area into a Traction Man inspired theme, please watch this space!
In Topic this week, we were preparing for our first holiday for next week, to hot a location. We packed our suitcases, learnt about different ways we could travel to hot destinations and continued to used maps to locate different locations.
During Science, we continued to learn about seasons and weather. We became weather reporters to explain the weather conditions in different locations; using symbols, pictures and writing descriptions.
In PE, we enjoyed learning a new game called ‘Tidy your room’, we worked in teams, to tidy all the equipment from our rooms and try and sneak it into our opponent’s bedrooms. We then learnt to use a range of equipment including hoops, bean bags, bats and balls to practise and develop our balancing and aiming skills.
On Thursday, we shared our Phonics learning with our parents, practising different graphemes and using our decoding and segmenting skills to read and spell words containing the ‘ee’ digraph. We loved playing ‘What’s in the Box’, discovering where the ‘ee’ grapheme was placed in the words. Many thanks to all the parents that came, we loved sharing our learning with you!
Well done B1 a very productive week, with lots of new learning and great team work showed in PE this week!
