Bushey and Oxhey Infant School

A new adventure in learning begins . . . . .

Proud to be part of the Bushey Primary Education Federation - Associate Head Mrs J.Djora

Week 6 - 10.03.16

Well done B2 for a brilliant class assembly! All of the hard work paid off J. You were all absolute stars.

This week has been another busy one. It has been assessment week, so the children have completed activities that have shown off all of the skills that they have learnt so far this half term.  In maths this has meant lots of investigating; adding and subtracting with two lots of 2 digit numbers. We have worked with dominoes, bead strings, 10 grids and lots of other resources. Many children are now developing their mental strategies in order to find answers, which is fabulous. We encourage the children as much as possible to talk about how they found each answer.

We started the week off in Literacy learning how to complete comprehensions. The children read non-chronological reports based on The Olympics and the sports that are involved. As the week progressed we used our knowledge from previous learning to: research, plan and write our own chronological reports. I have to say that we were very impressed with the end result! Well done B2.

In Science this week, the children have conducted their own investigation. The question was: Are the tallest children the oldest? Ask your child what they discovered. They had great fun planning their investigation. Answering ‘What I will need?’, ‘What I will do?’ and making a prediction; ‘I think that…’

Finally, a great big thank you for all of your hard work in regards to Home Learning. We have made a display with the children’s efforts as they are simply too gorgeous to file away. Please come and have a look!

Have a restful weekend

Mrs Carter
