What a whirlwind of a week in B2!
We started the week finishing our pieces of Art to represent a brand new planet our character would be visiting in our Literacy work. This helped us plan our story board bit by bit, drawing the scenes of our character arriving on this new planet, admiring the landscape and meeting some unusual creature before making our way back home. The stories the children produced were absolutely fantastic and it was great to see them writing in paragraphs building up their story step by step. We have some truly excellent writers in B2 and I am very much looking forward to our next writers' workshop!
In Maths this week, we created some 'chatterboxes' to help us remember our times tables. It was a really helpful tool for us to use to test each other. Though we are experts at counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, we are still working on developing our rapid recall of these times tables as this will really help free our mind to focus on our problem solving skills in Maths. We used these chatterboxes to play a selection of multiplication and division games with our partners. We had so much fun that some of us even went home to practise creating more 'chatterboxes'!
On Wednesday, we all went to Bushey Manor to perform our Sign to Sing song. It was not only a great opportunity for us all to come together but also for us to support a fantastic charity which transforms the lives of deaf people. We signed and sang with great enthusiasm to remind ourselves of how we could show understanding of others, despite any of our differences.
It was also Safer Internet Day this week and this was the perfect opportunity to remind the children of the rules for using the Internet safely. After reading the story of Chicken Clicking, we realised that the chick had made a grave error by not asking her parents for permission to access Internet and by posting all her personal details online. Though the chick thought she had found a new friend online, it turned out to be...the fox! We created some cyber superheroes who could protect us on the Internet and we discussed how the Internet could be a fantastic tool if used wisely.
Finally on Friday, we started off with our Parent At Home session which allowed B2 to demonstrate their Kung Fu Punctuation! It was lovely to see so many parents getting involved and I know that the children really enjoyed sharing their learning so thank you to all parents and adults for their continued support.
Last but not least, the children enjoyed their half term celebration on Friday afternoon. This consisted of a pyjamas/teddy/movie party which caused much excitement in B2. The children really enjoyed bringing their soft toy to school and it was a well-earned reward for all of their work throughout the half term.
I hope you all have a fantastic break over the half term and come back refreshed and eager to learn!
