We began our week with our class assembly on Monday morning. Thank you to everyone who came to watch us. The children were very proud of their assembly, and enjoyed performing in front of an audience.
In literacy this week we read the story ‘Sharing a Shell’. We read the story, and acted it out in the role play area. Our writing task this week was to think of another sea creature that might want to share a shell with the crab. We wrote what we thought both the sea creature and the crab would say. The children have been quite enthusiastic about story writing lately, with many children eager to make their own books. The children have been given the opportunity to read their stories to the class at the end of the day, and this has led to even more children waning to write their own stories.
In maths we have introduced money. This week we have looked at 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p and 20p coins. We spoke about how much each is worth, and which coins we would need to use to buy various priced objects. Sometimes we found we needed more than one coin to buy an object.
This week the children had plenty more questions about under the sea. We used our computers to research many of the answers. In the creative area we made props for our role play area, painting pictures of the characters from sharing a shell. In PE we continued to work on throwing and catching.
Well done on great learning this week OR class!
