We again had a busy week in the run-up to half-term.
In maths we worked on addition. We are learning how to count on when adding two groups of objects together. To do this, some children used their fingers, others used objects or more children began to use number lines. We also made up our own games outside during the maths session, and continued to learn about weighing.
This week in Literacy we read the story The Way Back Home, focussing on, and talking about the different parts of the story and how the author compiled distinct beginning, middle and end sections to sequence the story.
In phonics we learned the sounds ir (whirl and twirl), ou (shout it out) and oy (toy for a boy). We practised speaking and writing words that contain these sounds. We also learned the tricky words 'were' and 'there'.
On Wednesday the children were excited to walk up to Bushey Manor school to sing our Sign2Sing song. We have been working hard and practising the sounds and signs for the song, and we proudly sang it out with gusto during the assembly!
