One of our focusses this week has been Chinese New Year. The children tasted Chinese food for lunch, and in class we looked at a story about Chinese New Year. We tried to write Chinese, made 3D cone dragons and drew pictures of the Chinese Rooster.
In literacy this week we read the story ‘Aliens in Underpants Save the World’. We sequenced the story, and looked at rhyming words in the book. In phonics we learned the following sounds: ar (start the car),or (shut the door) and air(that’s not fair). We also learned the tricky words ‘come’ and ‘some’.
We have been learning about weight in our maths sessions this week. We have been weighing meteorites, deciding whether they are heavy or light. We have also been investigating how to make the scales balanced. During the maths activities children have also been playing board games, building obstacles courses, and making clay aliens.
The whole class worked really hard this week to practise for our Assembly on Friday. The children should be very proud of their efforts. All the speakers learned their lines really well. The astronomers had written their own words during Home Learning about particular planets. The mathematicians shared their recent learning of 2D and 3D shapes and weighing. The Alien dancers entertained everybody and the Mummy Bear, Baby Bear and Owl acted their parts beautifully. The musicians ended their space music rendition with a super symbol crash!s our recent learning of 2D and 3D shapes. Thank you very much for your support.!
