This week O2 have been finding out more about the Olympics and have been learning about famous landmarks in Rio de Janeiro. We looked at different landmarks and discussed the physical and natural features of each before researching other facts about them using the i-pads and computers. We found out lots of interesting information, including that Copacabana Beach is over 4km long! We also looked at maps this week, and labelled our own maps of the school using a variety of signs and symbols.
In literacy, we have been writing our own versions of a traditional tale, based on ‘Mufaro’s Beautfiul Daughters’. We started the week by creating our own characters that would live in an African forest, and describing the personality and appearance of each. Next, we planned our stories to ensure they had a clear beginning, middle and end, and then wrote our stories over the week. Miss Horton was very impressed with our use of different punctuation, adjectives, time opener s and even speech marks!
In maths this week, we have been practising our addition and subtraction skills by learning how to add and take away ten from a number. We used number squares to help us solve different problems, and used the patterns we noticed to help us find the answers mentally.
Finally, our science this week focused on animals and how they change as they grow up. We enjoyed discussing the changes that happen to humans as they grow, and then were able to describe how different animals change as they grow into adults.
What a busy and productive week O2- well done!
