We began the week with PE with Mr L, we have been learning about cricket; practising our batting and fielding skills. Using skills like aiming to improve the accuracy of our ball throwing skills.
The rest of the week was very busy, with assembly practises. Well done to all of the children for all their efforts; all of the children learnt their lines off by heart and performed with loud and proud voices. The assembly was enjoyed by all classes on Thursday morning and on Friday by parents and family. Well done girls and boys, Mrs Harris, Mrs Harper and I are so very proud of you all, you left us speechless, which is rare for us!
In Literacy this week, we continued to use our focus text Man on the Moon by Simon Bartram. We began the week, by answering the questions we composed last week for the aliens. This included, writing detailed descriptions of the aliens, including their appearance, behaviour and interests. Then, we used role play to act out the main events of the story, working within small groups and using story language to help bring the performances to life. Next, we retold the story; sequencing the main events into the correct order and retelling the events using time openers and story language. Next week, we will be planning and writing our version of Man on the Moon, thinking about Bob’s next adventure.
During Maths, we have been continuing to learn about money. We began the week, by solving a range of problems including The shopping challenge, we brought a range of items at the shop and then they had to calculate the total by adding the amounts. The sock challenge, we brought a pair of socks and then had to calculate the total if multiple pairs of the socks were bought, which involved repeated addition. We also had a prove it challenge, where we had to prove that an amount for items bought could be made in several ways using addition and subtraction. We ended the week with A snack shop challenge, set by Bob (the Man on the Moon). We had to work out what we would like to have during snack time and calculate the answer by adding the different items.
Well done B1, for another brilliant week of learning, solving lots of challenges!
