We have been quite busy in OR class this week.
In literacy we continued with the story 'Whatever Next'. We used the story map we created last week to help us act out the story. We then looked at the rocket the bear had used, and thought about how we could improve it. The children had lots of interesting ideas, so during the next literacy lesson, we planned our own rockets. We drew and labelled them, talked about the parts we would add and why we would add them.
In maths we have been learning about 3D shapes. We have had lots of shape detectives in our classroom, finding lots of 3D shapes both inside and outside. Some children used the 3D shapes they had found to build obstacle courses. Others used their 3D shapes to build chocolate factories and castles. We have also introduced board games during our maths session. The children have been really interested in these games, especially snakes and ladders, so we plan to have them available again next week.
In phonics we have begun learning new sounds. This week we learned 'ay', 'ee' and 'igh'. We practised reading words containing these sounds, and also writing some words containing these sounds. We also learned the tricky words 'she' and 'was' this week.
In PE this week we have been learning different types of rolls. The children have been practising pencil rolls, egg rolls and teddy bear rolls.
Well done on you hard work this week OR class.
