We have been continuing our space theme this week. Using Tyla's space book, we learned about stars and the children are keen to look out of their windows with you at night and spot young or old stars! They can tell the difference by the brightness and colour of the stars.
In Literacy we have been describing pictures whilst retelling a space story and using this information to then write sentences, remembering our ever-increasing phonic skills. We have studied rocket ships in great detail and then gone on to design our own adding labels, using rulers for accuracy. In phonics the children have been working very hard to learn 3 new sounds 'ay', 'ee' and 'igh'. The children hare also becoming familiar with a further 2 tricky words 'she' and 'was'.
You will see from our pictures that we have been focussing on 3D shapes this week in Maths. We have been spotting 3D shapes in our environment and completing various shape activities. One such activity was to see who could dribble a sphere around cones and cuboids in the quickest time! We then came inside to start learning a very catchy 3D shape song!
Our Music this week has centred around our space theme too. We have been saying and singing space words and moving in time with a beat.We then started to learn other songs in Music to do with our space topic and the children then started to make their very own space music!
In P.E. this week, Coach Angelo is helping the children learn striking games which is improving their eye-hand co-ordination. He has been delighted with their enthusiasm!
Please can I remind parents that Wednesday is now the day when Library books are changed. We will put a tray out during Busy Fingers first thing in the morning so please place any books you would like to change in here and new ones will then be given.
