What another busy week in Tiger class!
In English, we sequenced the Supertato story using pictures from the story combined with role play to remember the key events. We then made a story map as a class and we used this to help us re-write the story, trying to include story language. Next week, we will be reading a new Super hero story, Traction Man, we are very excited about discovering his new adventure!
In Maths this week, we began by using the scales and Numicon to discover the different ways to make the same amount/total. We then moved onto number fact families, using three numbers to make an addition number sentence in different ways, for example 2, 3, 5: 2 + 3 = 5, 3 + 2 = 5, 5 = 2 + 3, 5 = 3 + 2. We ended the week with problem solving, using are addition skills from the week to calculate the answers.
In Science, we continued to learn about materials. Super Man lost his cape, so he set us a challenge: an investigation, to find and test the best material for a new cape. First, we decided what we wanted to test and how; the strengthen using weights, the toughness by trying to rip the material and most importantly if the materials would fly! Then, we made our predictions to say what materials we thought would be the best and why. Next, we tested the materials, recorded our results and choose the material(s) we thought would be best! Please look at our photos to see our investigation!
We also begun to practise our class assembly this week, we do hope you can make it next Wednesday (24th January), so we can share our learning with you.
Well done Tigers, great learning and efforts this week!
