We have been active this week in O1 as we build up to Christmas. In literacy we retold the Christmas story focusing on ordering and the characters. The children then wrote their versions in books and were encouraged to expand and connect their sentences. The end products have shown how far the children have come this term and the class work was really good. We also had fun writing instructions on how to decorate a tree, with a chance to actually try it ourselves, using tinsel and lights.
This was linked into maths where the children began to order their day using the language of time. This helps them to sequence correctly with terms such as - before, after, next and then.
To help with our Christmas feeling the children went to the pantomime in Watford town. Not only did they have a fabulous time but were so well behaved in walking to and from the venue - WELL DONE!!
The school also had it's Christms dinner and the children were rewarded with a special visit from Santa. They loved it and they must have been very good this year as they all got a Christmas present. This week the children had an assembly about the Jewish festival of Hanukkah and treated to the lighting of candles and the odd chocolate doughnut.
Finally the week was round off with a fun Christmas jumper day. The children had some awesome designs and enjoyed comparing and looking at all the different styles and well done the class for raising money while doing so.
CONGRATULATIONS TO FIRE HOUSE WHO HAVE GAINED THE MOST POINTS THIS TERM AND HAVE EARNED A NON-UNIFORM DAY ON MONDAY. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE.
