In literacy this week O2 have enjoyed looking at poetry in more detail. We looked at calligrams; a poem in the shape of the theme it is based on. First, we worked in groups to create a calligram poem about a Christmas tree. We each wrote a sentence to describe a Christmas tree using alliteration, similes and metaphors to make our poems more interesting. We then joined these together to create a calligram poem in the shape of a Christmas tree. Then, we made word banks of words we associate with Christmas in order to help us write our own calligram about Christmas at the end of the week. We used lots of interesting word choices and thought about how to join them to create our own poems.
In maths this week, we carried on looking at the relationship between multiplication and division. We sorted objects into groups and then counted the number of groups to find the total. We then found the opposite division number sentence by counting how many in one group.
O2 have also been enjoying their Christmas celebrations this week. As well as practising in every spare moment for our Carol Concert next week, we were very excited by our trip to see the pantomime of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ on Wednesday. The singing, costumes and acting were fantastic and we had a wonderful time!
Also this week, we continued our Christmas celebrations by making Christmas cards, Christmas hanging decorations and even some Christmas baking. Our Christmas lunch on Thursday was delicious and was made even more special by Santa coming to visit. He stayed after lunch to say hello and give us presents before returning to the North Pole to look after his reindeer.
Well done on a Christmassy, exciting week!
