In maths this week B2 have been multiplying! We have been developing our mental arithmetic skills for the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. We began with multiplying as repeated addition and then moved on to arrays. On Wednesday the children completed maths challenges on the board. Each challenge had a number of times table questions such as 3x5=, 8x10=. Some children completed the top challenge that contained the 3 times tables and all children were able to say that multiplication can be completed in any order just like addition. Well done B2!
We have continued with poetry this week in Literacy. The children have planned and written their own examples of a list poem. We based our poems on our topic of ‘Let’s Celebrate’. Each child chose their own favourite celebration and made a mind map of words that they would see at that celebration. For each word they had to list a sting of alliterative words. We then used these words to make a plan for our poetry. They were fantastic! The children used their plans to write their poem and then made a final draft after editing their work.
In Computing we continued with our new unit of ‘We Are Researchers’. The children learnt how to use a bundle of websites to find answers to their questions that they recorded in their mind-mapping software last week. The children navigated around the websites effectively, summarised what they had learnt and learnt how to copy and paste the web address to show where they had found the information J
In art this week the children looked at what happened to their whole face when they smiled. We covered our mouths and the children had to predict whether their peers were smiling or not. The eyes gave it away! We then observed where our eyes, nose and mouths are positioned on our face. We made observational drawings in our sketch books.
Friday was science day! Mrs McKenzie planned a fun packed day of experiments; one of which was testing the elasticity of tights! Ask your children to tell you more!
