The last two weeks have been non stop production rehearsals; singing, dancing, costumes. You name it we've been preparing and rehearsing it!
But somehow, amongst daily rehearsals, we've still managed to fit in lots of fun learning too. Although I haven't been very good at taking photos of any of it these last couple of weeks!!
We looked at the story of Handa's Surprise, thinking about how adjectives make a story more interesting. We also did some wonderful art to match the story. We did still life drawings of the fruits from the story and then did African sunset watercolour washes to stick our drawings on to.
We looked at some more festivals and celebrations to carry on our topic learning including Advent and Hanukkah. We made Christingles and learnt about what they represent and why people celebrate it. And then we looked at different ways people celebrate Hanukkah and did some fact writing for this.
This week, we wrote our letters to Father Christmas. We thought about the features all letters need and how to make this a nice letter to him, including asking how he and his reindeers are and if hes managed to rest since last Christmas! We wonder whether he might make an early visit to our classroom before the end of term to collect these letters....
Our Maths learning has been looking at doubling and halving numbers and odd and even numbers. As well as investigating and comparing height, length and weight.
Next week's learning...
We have got our last dress rehearsal on Monday, with Year 3 coming to watch us! Then it's the three big performances (Tuesday at 2pm, Wednesday at 9.30am and Thursday at 6pm) so most of our week will be taken up with that.
We are going to start making our Christmas cards and decorations.
Our Maths learning will be looking at naming, describing and comparing 2d and 3d shapes.
