This week we have been talking a lot about Year 1. The children had many questions about their new teacher and classroom. On Thursday they found out which teacher they would have next year. Miss Neulaender unfortunately wasn’t available on Thursday to meet the children. However, she did call down to our classroom during the week to meet the children, although they didn’t know then that she would be their new teacher! However, Mrs. Liquori was available on Thursday to meet the children and show them around their new classroom.
We had open evening on Thursday where parents had the opportunity to come in to Reception to see their child’s work and go to their child’s new classroom. Thank you to all of the parents that came to the evening. We hope you found it beneficial.
This week has been a revision week for us in phonics. We have been revising our Set 2 sounds by writing words containing these sounds. We also played bingo using these sounds.
In maths, we have been using the skills we have learned this year to solve some word problems. We listen to the problem, then decide how best to solve it, maybe by subtraction or addition. We have enjoyed these challenges over the week.
We have enjoyed cheering on England this week. We made our own flags and posters In support of the team. We also designed our own football pitch and played our own version of football with a pompom. We kept a tally of all of the goals we scored.
On Friday afternoon we went to see the Year 6 production. They performed ‘Olivia’ for us, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. It was a lovely end to our penultimate week in Reception.
