Bushey and Oxhey Infant School

Educating Today's Child for Tomorrow!

Proud to be part of Bushey Primary Education Federation Headteacher: Mrs M Cooper

Week 11: 19th November 2018

In Reception sometimes the strangest things happen! This week a dinosaur egg appeared in the classroom. Nobody saw anything but over lunch time some large footprints and an egg were left in the classroom. The children were so excited and made a safe nest for the egg. They are eagerly watching and waiting for something to happen. Fingers crossed!!

The children have been busy writing about the eggs and it is wonderful to see some lovely sentences being spoken. The children are working hard to listen to the sounds and write them down.

In Maths we have introduced 5 frames in order to help children with grouping numbers together. This is beginning our learning on addition. The children really impressed me with their counting skills.

The children have enjoyed learning about dinosaurs and creating their own dinosaur fossil pictures. They have also been showing off their creative skills with paintings and drawings of dinosaurs and the eggs.

Over the weekend

  • Children have brought home a tricky word tag. Please practise reading these words by sight as they cannot be sounded out. As children become confident with the words on their tag we will add more. Please have these available in book bags every day.
  • Find out a dinosaur fact for the children to share with the class next week. You may want to  research online or use the local library and find a book.

Lots of children have been unwell this week so please ensure your child gets lots of rest this weekend. Have a lovely weekend
