We continued our traditional tales theme with 'Goldilocks and the three bears' this week. We read the story, then thought about how we could change it. We decided on 'Goldilocks and the three penguins', and talked about what would happen if she went into their house. The children then wrote their own stories, where they had to change the characters that she met. The children painted pictures of the story, and chose to act it out during active learning.
In maths this week we looked at number bonds to 10. We had various activities where we could work out the number bonds. We used cones as bowling pins, an abacus, and various other objects to work out different ways to make 10.
We had a fantastic end to the week. We began the day by attending a Canada Day assembly. One of the children in our class even helped to present it! We were interested to learn about a new country, and why there is a Canada Day.
Friday was also ARTS day. The children had the opportunity to experience various activities related to the arts, including art, dance and music. The children worked within their house teams, and moved around to different activities during the day. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience. One child summed it up at the end of the day by saying "This was my favouritest day!!"
