We have been very creative in B2 this week!
In Literacy we have continued to focus on ‘The Lonely Beast’. We learnt about similes and metaphors, created our own examples and put them together to create a group poem about jellyfish. Later in the week we took on the role of the beast and a reporter and interviewed each other through ‘hot seating’. The children recorded their questions and responses in their literacy books and then filmed each other conducting the interview on IPads. Towards the end of the week the children learnt about headlines for newspapers and today they actually wrote a newspaper article about the beast! These are so impressive that we are going to put some of them on display in the corridor.
In maths we have continued to explore the relationship between addition and subtraction. We have been investigating and proving that addition can be done in any order and that subtraction cannot. Towards the end of the week we have been competing activities that have involved the children investigating and using their knowledge of inverse to show how they could check their theories and calculations.
We used clay in RE to build religious symbols that we have been learning about. The children then wrote facts about the religious symbols and used non-fiction books to further their knowledge.
In science we have investigated what happens to our bodies during and after exercise. We played ‘tales’ a physical game in the hall and then compared our heart rate and how we felt to before we started to exercise. Ask your child what happened to their body.
We had a fabulous time on Friday afternoon. Renee came into class who has recently trained with The Massage in Schools Programme. The children were asked whether they would like to participate and watched and copied the actions on their friends back as we told a story.
Finally, Jessica’s mummy, Mrs Blake brought their two gorgeous rabbits into school. They are called Jeff and Wiggles. We talked about how they survive; what they eat, where they sleep and how they keep themselves clean.
Thank you to all who came to parents evening.
Have a relaxing weekend.
