This week has seen us continue to develop our learning and understanding in O1. We started off by looking at directions and position in our maths lessons. The children began to learn their left from their right and we used this in practical activates, writing directions for a person to follow. This was then enhanced further by Beebot programming as a group. The children had to get directions correct in order to move up to the next level. They all showed a good understanding and did well taking turns and getting the Beebot to where they wanted it to go. We also looked at the position of Traction Man and the children were encouraged to write using the language - up. down, under, over, behind, next to, in front of. Again showed a good understanding and enjoyed coming up with different placements.
In literacy the children have continued to learn about rhyming couplets and beginning to create their own poems. They started by working in groups to perform a poem with actions and thenthey moved on to writing their own rhyming sentences. There were some creative pieces of work with 'messy Jessie' and 'Jack at the back'. One or two of the children even wrote that they put their hands in the air cause they just don't care!
