Bushey and Oxhey Infant School

A new adventure in learning begins . . . . .

Proud to be part of the Bushey Primary Education Federation - Executive Head Mrs C. Holliman

Week 10 13.03.17

In Literacy we began looking at a new book - 'The snail and the whale' by Julia Donaldson. We have been thinking of lots of adjectives to describe the characters and then extended this to writing similes.

In Maths we have been learning about halving and doubling numbers. We have worked practically dividing shapes into halves and also dividing groups of objects into half. We have thought about the real life application of halving and the ideas we came up with mainly featured sharing sweets or other foods!!

Our topic has changed and we are now learning about living things. This week we learnt how to identify living and non-living things and went out in the playground armed with iPads to take photos of living and non-living things. Mr O'Brien featured heavily in many of the photos of living things! We also discovered how to classify animals and the children worked in small groups to sort animals into  mammals, fish, amphibians, birds, reptiles and insects.
