Proud to be part of Bushey Primary Education Federation Headteacher: Mrs M Cooper

Week 10: 12th November 2018

We have had another week filled with fun activities. It has been a particularly busy 2 weeks!

We continued our learning on Remembrance Sunday, writing up some facts about why we remember this day. We then looked at the celebration of Diwali. This linked in to our special workshop on Wednesday. We were very lucky to have Miss Julia come in to work with us. She helped us paint our own divas which have come home now. We hope you have put them someone special for everyone to see. Then our afternoon was Bollywood dancing. Thank you to all of those who came to watch our performance at the end of the day. (I will try and upload the video on to the photos page next week for those of you who did not get to see it on the day.)

We looked at birthdays this week and how people from around the world celebrate it. We learnt some very interesting facts involving butter, ears and noodles. Ask your children!!

Maths was looking at months of the year this week. We practised naming them and then ordering them, fitting them in to their seasons. We use the language of before and after and thought about when our birthdays are. You will find some homework in your child's bag to help you support this learning at home over the weekend. We will be recapping it again on Monday.

And as well as all of that, we managed to fit cake baking for Children in Need with a bake sale this afternoon (Thank you for your generous donations! Penguins class alone made over £40 just from selling cakes!!!! Amazing!!). We also started to practise for our class assembly (we hope to see lots of you there), we made penguins for our hall display and just to keep the children busy we are starting to learn our songs for the Christmas production too. Keep an eye out for a letter coming home next week about costumes.

Next weeks learning...

Writing comparisons

Art will be based on the story of 'Handa's Surprise'

The history of Thanksgiving

In Maths we will be looking at odd and even numbers and doubling and halving

And we will be starting our rehearsals for the Key Stage One Christmas production extravaganza!!!!
