We began our new topic this week called 'Under the Sea'. In Literacy we began by discussing what we already knew about the topic, and writing down our ideas. We thought of some things we would like to know about various aspects of the topic. We have begun to use the computers to research the answers to some of our questions.
We have begun to change our role play area to relate to our topic. The children have been busy decorating it by drawing and painting various sea creatures. We have created our own sea creatures using air dough, paying particular attention to the features of the sea creatures they were making. We have also written questions and facts to put into the role play area. Next week we will continue to add to it.
In maths we have been learning about positional language. We played Simon Says, with some children even giving instructions to others on what they needed to do. In phonics we recapped Set 2 sounds, placing particular focus on reading and writing words containing these digraphs.
We would like to thank you all for your generous donations of herbs and plants. Next week we hope to plant them with the children in our outdoor area.
