B1's first week in Year One has been a fantastic start to the term. Mrs Harris and I are very proud of all the children's effort and attitude towards their learning.
We began the week with a circle time with Big Ted, we shared our holiday news with the class and we were excited to write our recounts in our new Literacy books! We enjoyed sharing our writing with the class, spotting key features of good writing, like finger spaces and full stops in the correct places.
In Maths this week, we have been practising counting forwards and backwards to one hundred. Marty the Maths wizard challenged us to complete a range of activities including understanding ‘more’ and adding different amounts to numbers, calculating missing numbers and recording our learning through pictures and number sentences. We did such great learning this week in Maths that Marty rewarded us with 3 golden keys to unlock the magic door!
During Phonics, we have been recapping phase three and four graphemes, practising decoding and blending words to read teamed with segmenting to spell words. We practised the ch, sh, th and qu graphemes.
This term in PE, we will be exploring different ways of travelling and moving during our gymnastic sessions. This week, we practised making different shapes with our bodies from
tiny to large!
In Art, we loved creating our own holiday pictures using paint and oil pastels
Well done B1 for a fantastic first week in Year One.
